a black history month tribute and love letter to Black dollhood as i call it! the toy and doll industry is historically racist in more ways than one. from capitalizing on stereotypes by reinforcing racist themes with Black dolls in the 1900s to today’s insufficient representation. dolls should spread joy through positive and INCLUSIVE portrayals. I posed with these toys as my alternative Black self aiming to create a fantasy world showcasing the beauty of being different while Black, even in spaces that have historically excluded such diversity and the FUN that can be had while disrupting these spaces ♡
